We are so excited to let you know that Ivan’s own kitchen, yes you read it right, his own kitchen has been featured in the latest issue (May/Jun 2011, page 28-33) of Y.A.M. magazine. It was really nice to see his space through the eyes of Y.A.M. Magazine, and he is very happy with the end result of the article – and why not? Ivan is very proud of his new title as a self-confessed foodie.
Kerry Slavens wrote a beautiful review of the kitchen and the thoughts behind the design choices. The images are also extremely nice thanks to the skilled eye of well known local photographer Jeff Bosdet.
Ivan particularly likes the photography on pages 30-31- as it really showcases how open and light his space is.

We are very excited to share the news that we won the “Curator’s Choice Award” for our floral interpretation at the Art in Bloom event showcase at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria.
We want to extend our gratitude to Plexiklass, Rook and Rose, Brenda Marks – Kravet, and Garside Signs and Displays for all their help, patience and guidance to make this project come together. Without their support we never would have won this award.

This year Meade Design Group have been very fortunate to be invited by the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria to reinterpret an art piece of their permanent collection in a botanical extravaganza as part of their annual exhibition Art in Bloom.
We were assigned a stunning oil painting in canvas by Theresa Victoria Wylde (circa 1909) entitled “This Is The World, And I Am King…” (127” height X 137.5 width). Our interpreted title for the exhibit is “Design Fit For A King”
We used a combination of anemones, tube roses, double tulips, mosses and greens accented by drumstick alliums and fuchsia trachelium. We wanted to build up a woodland feeling with berries, mosses and greens, but still have interesting forms and textures with more exotic accents. This is reinforced by the golden graphic that has been applied to the acrylic base which encases the trunk.

To celebrate the renewal of Meade Design Group we have created a new image for the business, one that embraces our old branding (with the repetition of the horse image and typography of our logo), but also symbolizes our growth and evolution with the use of the gradient and layering of patterns and forms.
We also warmed up our colour palette and softened the lines to better represent our warm and friendly working environment. Now that we have put so much work into our networking and accessibility, we wanted to reflect that in our image; we want to be perceived as professionals who are young, fun, and love what we do – design really is our passion!

To any of you who have been eagerly awaiting the next issue – as many of you know, MDG got a bit of a surprise when our issue normally comes out so unfortunately, it pushed the newsletter back a little. But not to worry – we are back and looking better than ever! (more on that under “The Business of Meade Design Group”).
We’ve got a new team member to introduce you to, and all of your favourites are back, including our current obsessions, recent events, media and the personal feature where you can get to know the real people behind Meade Design Group, – this month you’ll get an anecdote about something that has touched us all recently and one fantastic woman who is doing something about it!
